Painted by Daniel Muytens the Dutch portrait painter. Hudson was a dwarf and jester to Charles I. The picture is dated c1630 but Hudson’s suit looks more suited to a slightly later date. The simple slashed sleeve, the lack of lacing points and the falling band look more 1640s to my eye. It’s top quality though and a perfect fit on the tiny man. Note the stiffened tabs below his waistline.
